Head of Hosted Events and Development

As Events Manager, your role will be to oversee all events organized at the Valenciennes Métropole Convention and Exhibition Center. You will not only manage the administrative and logistical aspects of the events hosted, but also the business development to actively promote the Congress Center of Valenciennes in various markets: congresses, corporate, BtoB/BtoC, shows, institutional, festive and sporting events.

Missions and responsibilities

1. Sales strategy

  • Define, with General Management, annual and multi-year objectives for hosting events.
  • Develop and propose a sales strategy adapted to each market.
  • Establish and monitor a marketing and sales action plan to optimize sales.
  • Participate in the development of communication and public relations plans.

2. Prospecting and business development

  • Implement a prospecting plan and analyze its effectiveness.
  • Manage and update customer/prospect databases, identify new opportunities.
  • Use prospecting techniques to attract new customers and maintain the loyalty of existing ones.

3. Sales and negotiation

  • Develop comprehensive commercial offers (space + services) based on customer needs.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations up to the signing of contracts.
  • Optimize occupancy rates by guiding customers to the most favorable dates.

4. Operational sales management

  • Draw up a precise schedule of events for handover to the technical teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory health and safety standards.
  • Greet customers during event set-ups and coordinate with operational teams.

5. Team management

  • Set employee objectives, prioritize actions and monitor performance.
  • Provide ongoing training and motivate the team to achieve objectives.

6. Economic profitability

  • Monitor budgets and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Ensure invoicing and proper payment of receivables.

7. Networking and synergies

  • Actively participate in cross-functional actions with other Group sites and business units.

Profile

Knowledge :

  • Bac+4/5 in business school or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in event management or sales.
  • Good command of office automation tools and ideally of business software (EBMS or similar).
  • Fluent English.

Abilities :

  • Excellent command of sales and negotiation techniques.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to listen, analyze and summarize.
  • Strong organizational, planning and crisis management skills.
  • Leadership, team spirit, adaptability and responsiveness.
