The aim of Made In Valenciennes is to showcase local companies and trades.
An annual event organized by theValenciennes Tourist Office, Made In Valenciennes is an opportunity for residents of Valenciennes Métropole and the surrounding region to visit local businesses.
For this 6th edition, the Centre Hospitalier de Valenciennes, Transvilles, the Toyota factory and 35 other partner companies opened their doors for guided tours during the February vacations. Some of these companies are part of the Metropole’s competitive clusters: Innovative and Sustainable Mobility, Digital Creation and Industrial Transition and Low-Carbon Logic.
The Cité des Congrès Valenciennes team was once again on hand for this annual event.
So what does a behind-the-scenes tour of our convention center look like?
Discover the 15,000m2 convention center
Our visitors were able to discover all our empty and unfinished spaces, including :
- 3 equipped auditoriums: 150, 300 and 500/800 seats
- 14 committee rooms: from 20 to 150 people
- 4200m2 of exhibition space
- A panoramic bar-restaurant
It’s hard to visualize what the events we host might look like. To remedy this, our tour guides have presented the different possible configurations of our spaces through photos of past events.
Behind the scenes at the Cité des Congrès Valenciennes
Come and explore the professional kitchens of the Cité des Congrès, pass through the many entrances to each space or admire the view from the rooftop – that’s what awaited our guests during this privileged visit.
Event management professions
Event industry professions are varied, and at GL Events there are more than forty of them, offering a diversity that could easily be disorientating. Generally speaking, an event requires several trades:
- Event planning and management
- Logistics and supplies management
- Sound, lighting and audiovisual technology
- Safety and risk management
- Restaurant and food services
- Marketing and communications
- Manage registrations and welcome participants
We were able to clear up any questions about our various functions. Not forgetting the work of our service providers, who were highlighted with a visit to their workplace within the Cité des Congrès, and without whom the events would not see the light of day.
CSR Focus
As the events industry can quickly become polluting and harmful to the environment, Gl events is attentive to its social, environmental and economic impact. During our visits, we presented the solutions installed at the Cité des Congrès. These solutions aim to reduce our impact and encourage continuous improvement in our sector.
A gift as a souvenir
To round off these two visits, we were delighted to offer our guests a few small gifts. All of which will make them want to come back to the Cité des Congrès, thanks in particular to our general public program of shows, concerts, plays and exhibitions.
Finally, we leave you with this heart-warming review from our tour guides: Noémie Dubruille, Adrien Morelle and Marine Samyn.
“Hello everyone, here’s our feedback on our visit to the Cité des Congrès: First of all, a perfect welcome by 2 very friendly and dynamic young people, who offered to show us absolutely every room in this gigantic complex! Just as well, that’s what we came for! The Cité des Congrès is mainly dedicated to hosting conventions, cocktail parties and/or special events such as new product launches. It also hosts shows, renting a hall and services with different providers to meet demand perfectly. Speaking of rooms, there’s something for every taste and, above all, every need: small, medium, large, modular, with the option of adding partitions, hushed, fully equipped with video projection and sound systems. In short, it’s hard, if not impossible, not to find what you’re looking for to organize a corporate event in the best possible conditions. The venue is very clean and pleasant. The speakers’ explanations were very clear and precise. They answered all our questions, giving us concrete examples of past events to help us understand better. Well done and thank you! At the end of the visit, we were given a bag containing a few goodies to mark the occasion! I really enjoyed the visit, and was amazed at the sheer size and almost infinite possibilities of the Cité des Congrès. So, if you’re a company looking for a nice venue with plenty of parking, now you know where to go!“Laurent Depoortère
We look forward to seeing you at the next edition in 2025!
